How well do you know your mineral makeup? We have a test to see if what is going on your face is natural or not. Add a small amount of your minerals into a glass of water that is ½ full. The water is going to represent your skin. If you are using real mineral makeup, you will notice that the powder will rise to the top. If you are not using real minerals, the makeup will mix in with the water or sink to the bottom. If this happens, your makeup is most likely penetrating the skin causing clogged pores which can cause damage to the skin.
Here at Skin Essentials we have invested in the finest mineral makeup by La Bella Donna. This particular line is perfect for your everyday wear, but can also be used on your skin after certain laser procedures as well as other treatments. Talk to your Skin Essentials provider about the La Bella Donna products to see if they will work for you.

Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, results from over-stimulation of the sweat glands by the nervous system. Most commonly the sweating is restricted to the palms of the hands, underarms, or the soles of the feet, and is referred to as “focal hyperhidrosis”.
Consequences of this frustrating problem can be medical as well as social in that maceration of the skin may lead to skin infections.
Treatments have included oral medications, topical anti-perspirants, electrical current stimulation, and even surgery to cut the nerves to the sweat glands. These options all have met with differing success rates, may be associated with side-effects and time inconveniences, and now are supplemented by the option of BOTOX injections which are preferable to many sufferers.
Most people are only familiar with BOTOX Cosmetic, used to treat the overactive facial expression muscles. The treatment for Hyperhydrosis works in the same way in that BOTOX blocks the chemical signal, in this case, activating the sweat gland.
BOTOX for focal hyperhidrosis in the hands, underarms, and feet is safe, effective and convenient. For some sufferers, having their “business handshake” hand treated is a boon in the workplace. One treatment can stop 90% of the sweat production within a week, and only one treatment a year affords great advantages over many of the other option to tackle this troublesome condition.

Let’s face it; it’s not just our faces that show the signs of aging. One area in particular that is a cause of concern for many of our patients is their hands. Most do not consider the hands to show true age. Why not? Our hands are usually exposed to the same harsh elements that our faces are, and in some cases more often. They also lose their volume the same way our cheeks or lips as we grow older.
Our Skin Essentials nurses have perfected the technique of hand rejuvenation, with a combination of injectable fillers and photorejuvenation. These two treatments together will turn back your hands of time by restoring a natural and younger looking appearance to your second impression.

They should not.
In fact, it has been reported to be just the opposite, in the case of dermal fillers for facial soft-tissue augmentation. It has become an increasingly popular option for patients seeking cosmetic facial enhancement, which provides volumetric restoration that is lost with aging. In addition to this, it is also possible to experience collagen stimulation as a result of being treated with hyaluronic acid fillers.
In the case of Botox, many of our facial changes associated with aging are caused by facial animation. Botox modifies facial expression. With treatments on a regular basis it is highly possible to experience line reduction and facial shaping. Chronic animation can manifest itself with facial lines, soft-tissue changes, and atrophy.
Individualized treatment plans with an experienced cosmetic injection specialist can cure wrinkles and improve contour as well as facial shape. If discontinued you should expect to look much like you did on your first initial assessment.
If you are looking for a more permanent result you may consider surgical facial enhancement. Contact a bod:evolve surgeon in Denver, CO to schedule your consultation.

• Do consume and apply antioxidants. Free radicals are formed when a molecular bond is broken down by electron reduction and healthy cells are attacked and damaged. Unfortunately, the older we get the more free radical harm we see. They can be very destructive if we do not fight them off manually. Antioxidants, mainly made of vitamins E and C, are the number one way to eliminate these free radicals. Skin Essentials offers a variety of products that host these necessary ingredients. Antioxidants, whether consumed orally or applied topically directly to the skin will replace the lost electron to renew the damaged cell. They can afford to do this because they are stable in any form. This “Do” is one that will not only repair broken down cells, but will help prevent tissue damage and disease.
• Don’t tan. Although you may not have the wrinkles now, if you continue to tan inside or out, you will. It is much easier and less expensive to take care of your skin now instead of trying to reverse the damage later. If you are at the point of needing treatment, ask your Skin Essentials provider about PhotoRejuvenation or other procedures available. As always please remember to wear your sunscreen everyday!

• Do apply an eye cream daily. Because the skin around your eyes is thinner and more sensitive, it just makes sense that you care for this area differently. Make sure you use a cream specifically for the eyes to avoid irritation that can come with traditional face moisturizers. Since the eyes show aging much quicker than the rest of the face you will want to be sure to use a daily cream that includes an SPF. Skin Essentials offers sunscreen options to fit your skin type as well as your lifestyle.
• Don’t ignore your neck and chest. Because there are fewer oil glands in these two areas they will begin to show signs of aging before any place else. You want to care for you decollete just as you do your face. You should look for products that carry age-fighting ingredients like kinetin, vitamin C, vitamin A, or copper. Kinerase has one of the best age-fighting lines on the market. Good products are just a start. When looking into laser treatments make sure you don’t forget your neck and chest. Although our faces receive most of the sun exposure our neck and chest have softer thinner skin so the damage can occur quicker. Talk to your Skin Essentials provider about which options will be best for you.

• Do exfoliate at least once a week. Exfoliating is one of the most important steps in a skin care regimen. Our Skin Essentials specialist can help you determine what kind of exfoliator will be best for your skin type. If you have oily or combination skin, you may look to a chemical exfoliator, as opposed to those with more sensitive skin types which tend to respond better with scrubs. Try the no-acid gentle Rice Peeling Scrub from Anubis.
• Don’t forget your sunscreen. This should be the easiest thing to remember, being that we are taught from birth to always use a sunscreen, especially in Colorado’s higher altitude. It can take 20 minutes, even during the winter months, to cause your skin damage if unprotected and exposed to the sun. Kinerase now offers a daily moisturizer with an SPF of 30. Talk to your Skin Essentials provider for more details and options.
