Part IV
• Do consume and apply antioxidants. Free radicals are formed when a molecular bond is broken down by electron reduction and healthy cells are attacked and damaged. Unfortunately, the older we get the more free radical harm we see. They can be very destructive if we do not fight them off manually. Antioxidants, mainly made of vitamins E and C, are the number one way to eliminate these free radicals. Skin Essentials offers a variety of products that host these necessary ingredients. Antioxidants, whether consumed orally or applied topically directly to the skin will replace the lost electron to renew the damaged cell. They can afford to do this because they are stable in any form. This “Do” is one that will not only repair broken down cells, but will help prevent tissue damage and disease.
• Don’t tan. Although you may not have the wrinkles now, if you continue to tan inside or out, you will. It is much easier and less expensive to take care of your skin now instead of trying to reverse the damage later. If you are at the point of needing treatment, ask your Skin Essentials provider about PhotoRejuvenation or other procedures available. As always please remember to wear your sunscreen everyday!

Part III
• Do apply an eye cream daily. Because the skin around your eyes is thinner and more sensitive, it just makes sense that you care for this area differently. Make sure you use a cream specifically for the eyes to avoid irritation that can come with traditional face moisturizers. Since the eyes show aging much quicker than the rest of the face you will want to be sure to use a daily cream that includes an SPF. Skin Essentials offers sunscreen options to fit your skin type as well as your lifestyle.
• Don’t ignore your neck and chest. Because there are fewer oil glands in these two areas they will begin to show signs of aging before any place else. You want to care for you decollete just as you do your face. You should look for products that carry age-fighting ingredients like kinetin, vitamin C, vitamin A, or copper. Kinerase has one of the best age-fighting lines on the market. Good products are just a start. When looking into laser treatments make sure you don’t forget your neck and chest. Although our faces receive most of the sun exposure our neck and chest have softer thinner skin so the damage can occur quicker. Talk to your Skin Essentials provider about which options will be best for you.

Part II
• Do exfoliate at least once a week. Exfoliating is one of the most important steps in a skin care regimen. Our Skin Essentials specialist can help you determine what kind of exfoliator will be best for your skin type. If you have oily or combination skin, you may look to a chemical exfoliator, as opposed to those with more sensitive skin types which tend to respond better with scrubs. Try the no-acid gentle Rice Peeling Scrub from Anubis.
• Don’t forget your sunscreen. This should be the easiest thing to remember, being that we are taught from birth to always use a sunscreen, especially in Colorado’s higher altitude. It can take 20 minutes, even during the winter months, to cause your skin damage if unprotected and exposed to the sun. Kinerase now offers a daily moisturizer with an SPF of 30. Talk to your Skin Essentials provider for more details and options.

These tips will leave your skin refreshed and radiant at every age!
Part I
• Do stop smoking. If you have ever paid attention to the skin of a smoker then you have seen the negative effects that this habit can cause. Not only are the toxins in cigarettes damaging to the structure of your skin, but the nicotine inhibits the new growth of healthy cells, reduces necessary blood supply and oxygen to the skin, and can quickly reduce the skins thickness; thus causing a smoker to look older than their rightful age. Next to sun exposure, smoking is next on the list for causing skin damage. If you are looking to correct the effects of smoking, please talk to your Skin Essentials provider to determine the best treatment for you.

• Don’t disregard moisturizing. This should be on the top of the list of skin care, along with sunscreen and exfoliating, especially in Denver. Although you may not get wrinkles by skipping this step, your skin needs help trapping its natural moisture. You will need to have your skin examined by one of our Skin Essentials specialists so that they can help you choose the best product for your skin type and lifestyle. When applying your moisturizer, make sure you do not pull or aggressively rub your skin. This can cause more unnecessary stress and break down the elasticity in the skin.
Additional tip: Moisturizers are more effective when applied to damp skin to lock the moisture in.

Prevention is always easier than treatment. This is the same case for wrinkles. Although many people feel that wrinkles cannot be stopped once you get to a certain age, there are still a few secrets out there that have nothing to do with what you intake or your exposure to the sun. Skin Essentials @ bod:evolve would like to share these secrets with you, so that you can begin to focus on looking your absolute best!
1. Re-Train Your Face and body. Many of our facial creases are caused from expressions we make often, but don’t realize that we’re making them. Being aware that you are making these faces will allow you to concentrate harder on not making them so frequently. Be conscious about your posture. Slouching can initiate creases and rolls that are not visually pleasing. Imagine that you are always being pulled up by the top of your head. This will minimize wrinkles and discomfort.
2. Laser Resurfacing. There are many lasers out now that dramatically reduce the fine lines & wrinkles, age spots, and overall skin tone. Skin Essentials treats with the Sciton laser because of the spectacular results and patient comfort provided.
3. Try Botox. Botox is a treatment that can be used for preventing and removing the wrinkles in your forehead, the 11’s in your brow, and crow’s feet. A lot of what Botox offers is prevention. If you begin using Botox when you start to notice the lines, your muscles will train themselves to relax. Over time you will also notice that your results can last longer and you may be able to use a lesser number units, which saves you money.
4. Fill in your lines. Dermal fillers are often used to fill in the creases around the mouth. These injectables can also soften the jaw line, plump up lips, and add volume to the cheeks.
5. Reduce the number of pillows you sleep with. This will help minimize neck wrinkles and the dreaded double chin.
6. Do your reading before bed. Unintentionally, this will always put your neck in a position to cause a double chin and wrinkling around the jowls.
7. Don’t get comfortable at the computer. Never look down at your computer screen and try to look away from the keyboard as well. This not only can cause double chin but it can hurt other parts of your body. Get up and walk around at least every 30 minutes. And, if you are one of those who has to look down at the keyboard while typing, for goodness sake take a class! It will benefit you in the long run.
Implementing these ideas into your lifestyle will bring out a whole new look and a whole new YOU!!!
